Library - Wednesday. Remember to bring your book back from last week so you can get a new one.

Pentecost Mass - Friday 11am in the church. St. Michael's school are joining us to celebrate Pentecost. Once mass is finished the children from St. Michael's will join St. Mary's for the remainder of the day. The junior children from both schools will be competing in tabloid sports on the field. In the event of rain, there will be an activity organised in our classroom with some junior children from St. Michael's. Friends and family are welcome to attend both the mass and the activities.

WALHT - new photos are up.

Move It - we worked a lot on our core muscles this week. Sitting in a wide position, tuck position and L position (arms in the air, legs straight and flat on the ground). Trickier than it sounds. Easy on the ground - slightly harder on the bar. Trickier still to photograph before they moved to the next position.

Week 4 - Autumn Homework & Photos

We went for an autumn walk on Monday. Before the walk we shared things we knew about autumn. When we got back to class, we shared new things we saw on our walk. Then we thought about what we else would like to know about autumn. Here are our questions:

  • Why does the leaf and stalk have to be different colours?
  • Why are the leaves colourful?
  • Why do the leaves fall off the trees?
  • How do leaves grow?
  • Why do the leaves change colours?
  • Why do the trees grow leaves?
  • Why are the leaves big and small and different shapes?
  • Why do some of the leaves have more than one colour?
  • Why are some trees still green?
Please read the questions again and choose 2-3 to answer in your poem/homework books (or on a piece of paper) and bring into class tomorrow. We are going to add some of these facts to our autumn stories.

Here are some of the pictures from our walk.

On the whole there was a huge improvement in their spelling - Well done!
