Reading Night - Monday 5:15-6:00. Rooms 8, 9, 10 & 12 are putting on a reading evening to give you ways to help your child at home in reading. This is targeted towards our children who are below or just below in reading. These children will have received an invitation on Friday to bring home. Please indicate on Monday morning if you are able to attend.

Congratulations to Abbie and Aleena. There was a competition on the mufti day to see who was the best dressed in the Philippines colours (red, blue, yellow & white). From each class a winner was selected and in our class we had two! Well done girls!

Golden Time - we will have our Golden Time on Thursday this week as there is no school on Friday. The children have voted for a PJ Party.

Library - Thursday. Bring your book back from last week so you can get a new one.

Holiday Reading Log - these will be coming home towards the end of the week. Please continue to read with and to your children during the holidays. If you are looking for more books, the Rotorua Public Library has books that are similar levels to the ones we have at school. Remember to fill out our class reading logs at the same time.

This week our normal programme is not running. In addition to our liturgies and Holy Week activities, we will be completing portfolio assessment tasks and reading & maths testing. Reading this week for your children will be poems so that testing may be completed.

Last Day of Term 1 is Thursday 2nd April.

Term 2 starts Monday 20th April at 8:45am. Children need to be in winter uniform. Velcro shoes are great for juniors for winter.

Check out the post below for pictures from Friday. We had the Donkey Parade, a Rice Lunch and Wheels Day for Golden Time.

Donkey Parade, Caritas Rice Lunch & Wheels Day

What a busy wee Friday!! We were lucky the weather played nicely and the donkey was able to come to school to help us re-enact Jesus' entry into Jerusalem on the donkey.

Our rice lunch and mufti day were to raise funds for Caritas for the people in the Philippines.

And for Golden Time we had wheels day.

Week 7 - additions

NO HAT = NO PLAY. Children who continue to not bring their hats to school will no longer be allowed to play during morning tea and lunch time. Children will be taken to the designated area at the start of each break.

GOLDEN TIME - The children have voted on Dress Ups for golden time this week. They need to come to school in their uniform and bring their dress ups in their school bag. If they do not have any dress up costumes, daytime clothes are fine.

LUNCH EATING - We are trialling a new time for eating this week in an effort to a) reduce the rubbish that is accumulating on the field and around the school, and b) get the children to eat their lunch. This is happening school wide. Children now head straight out to play at morning tea and lunch time. When the bell goes they come inside and have their eating time then. So far so good. I've noticed a huge improvement in the amount that is being eaten.

Life Education

WOW!! We went to see Bernie and Harold today in the Life Education truck.

Harold came and said hello to us         Grace got a birthday hug and kiss to give
                         - he was still asleep when we               to Abbie (who was a bit shy of Harold)                                       got there!

Harold tried to eat his breakfast           We found out lots of things we need
but he needed a shower first                 to do to stay healthy and grow big

We did a role play to see how Olivia could
help Luke who had fallen off the monkey bars

There are Harold pens available to purchase for $2 - buying them is optional. Bring your money to class and I will send the money altogether. The pens have a part that slides out with pictures on it.

Our next session with Bernie and Harold will be Thursday next week. We have each been given a booklet with some activities in it that we will do during class. These booklets will come home at the end of next week.

Week 6 - Term 1

Gala Winner - Congratulations to Chloe!! She choose the key that unlocked the padlock and won the Go-Pro for her family. Well done Chloe!

Swimming - We are swimming everyday this week. Hopefully the weather plays nicely. Please bring your togs, towel and a plastic bag each day.

Singing Practice - Wednesday 8:45am in the hall.

Library - Thursday. Remember to bring last weeks book back so you can get a new one.

Life Education - Over the next two weeks during class time, we will be having lessons in the Life Education bus with Bernie. Our first lesson is on Thursday. Our focus during our time in the Life Education bus will be kindness, actions impacting others and recognising different emotions and why people might be feeling these. In addition to the lessons with Bernie there will be follow up work in class.

Gala - It was great to see so many of you at the Gala last Thursday. My mission for the evening (apart from taking fabulous photos) was to see how many of the children in Room 12 I could take a photo of without them seeing me first. I think I wore the wrong coloured top (bright pink) because the majority found me first. Here are some of the photos I did manage to get - on the sly and posed.
