Bishop Steve's Visit - Powhiri
Bishop Steve - School Classroom Visits
Bishop Steve - Our Classroom Visit. Lucky Luke got to be Bishop Steve's helper. Room 5 & 13 joined us for Bishop Steve's visit. What awesome listeners and questioners we had.
Matariki - Mrs Beckhams Visit. We were lucky enough to have Mrs Beckham (Mr Beckham's step-mum) come to visit us in our class. She shared some of her childhood memories with us. Very interesting and very different to how we live now. Mrs Beckham caught the train to & from school each day, her family grew their own vegetables, they had livestock for their meat, they caught wild horses and trained them so they could ride them, and they had to collect water each day in barrels on sleds, using the horses to pull the sleds. Mrs Beckham also made us some rewena bread to try. Boy oh boy that was yum!!
Firewise Visit - Wow! We were lucky enough to have two firemen visit us to help us become better firewise kids. They talked to us about candles and the dangers of them being close to curtains or the carpet. We learned more about why we need to get down, get low and get out AND stay out. We read a story together and helped each other work out the most sensible and smartest thing to do. Then we got to pretend we were in a fire and we practiced get down, get low and get out. Lastly we got to wave the firemen off as they headed back to the fire station.
